About Us

Wilderness Hunts

We have excellent trophy Mule Deer hunting.  Our primary areas are 171-173 being 1st choice and 161-164 as 2nd choice.  We had another great season in 2001. Rifle season we entertained  30 hunters with 26 filling out and taking home nice bucks, everyone had shot opportunities. Of the 26 bucks taken, 20 of those were 4x4’s or better with one scoring a 170 6/8 SCI, and 178 gross.

The chances of drawing a Mule Deer tag with us for Non-residents in 2001 were as follows:

bullet

Non-Resident Guided Hunt Draw, about  3 to 1 and 1 to 1

bullet

Regular Draw Rifle,  4 to 1

bullet

Muzzleloader, 3 to 1

bullet

Archery, 2 to 1

Our Elk hunting area is about the best in the state.  We hunt area 162, the Table Mt. Wilderness, which can only be hunted by foot or horseback. This is a very limited draw.  The odds for a resident to draw are about 1 in 157 for early rifle season and 1 in 18 late rifle season.  For a non-resident it is slowly climbing from 1 in 120 in 1996 to about 1 in 923 early season and 1 in 65 for late season in 2001.  But, if you do draw, you should fill out with a great bull, there are plenty to choose from. For the 2001 season NDOW again changed some of the seasons and added some more tags. We did have a very successful season for 2001. All of our rifle Elk hunters filled out again - all taking 5x5’s or better. One took a 340gross B&C 6X6.   The Muzzleloader Elk hunter took a dandy 6x6.

We have a 100% success rate on our Rifle & Muzzleloader Elk hunts.

Our favorite Desert Bighorn Sheep area is 161, the Alta Toquima Wilderness.  The odds for a resident to draw are about 1 in 26, for a non resident 1 in 99 in 2001.  For a resident in area 163 is a 1 in 21 and in area 173 is a 1 in 14 chance to draw.  And of course, we are always 100% success on our sheep hunts, with a 162 in 1995, a 169 6/8 in 1996 taking the 3rd place belt buckle award for the Nevada Record Book.  In 2001, Jim drew his own Sheep Tag for area 161 and ended up taking about a 164 gross.  Our sheep hunter for the 2000 season took a respectable 152 ram.  In spring  of 2001, Jim found what was left of a 165 B&C ram that was killed by a mountain lion.  We also heard that Mr. Lion topped his old #1 score of 171 from a few years ago -- he took a whopping 174 in 2001! He still gets the best rams to come off of that mountain.

Our Antelope areas are 161-162 and 163-164.  As with our sheep hunts, we proudly maintain a 100% success rate on antelope.  Odds to draw one of these tags are; resident about 1 in 8 and 1 in 3; a non-resident about 1 in 9 and 1 in 1 for 2001.  We have some fine Antelope to choose from with average bucks being 13+" high.

Our Lion Hunts run from November though April 30th, although the season is open year-round now. You can purchase a Mountain Lion Tag over the counter and now you can even purchase a second Tag. You will stay at our home, a rental, a camp or we will put you up at a motel for our Lion hunts.  We use pick-ups, ATV’s, snowmobiles or horses.  It depends on conditions as to where and how we will hunt. We maintain 4 full packs of hounds so you are always assured of having fresh dogs.

Nevada has a bonus point system, if you opt to keep your hunting license even if you do not draw a tag for that year, then you keep a bonus point for each hunt you applied for.  Applications for the Non-Resident Guided Hunt Mule deer drawing come out about the middle of February and are due back to NDOW about the beginning of March.  For the regular drawing for big game, applications are out around the middle of March and the deadline for return is around the middle of April.

You can either phone Nevada Division Of Wildlife (NDOW) for the apps or download the apps from NDOW and get the hunter choice areas here. Also new for 2001 is on-line credit card applications at their web site.

I certainly hope this answers all your questions, if not, please call us for any additional information.   Keep checking this site for updates, hunter choice numbers, new pictures or any specials.  Click here for our hunter choice numbers.

We look forward to hunting with you this next season.
